HustleAI ("we", "us", "our") is operated by MCW MEDIA LTD, a private limited company registered in England & Wales (company number 16340035) and the data controller for your personal data. We collect the following categories of information:
Account identifiers — a device-generated UUID (created on first launch and stored in your device's secure storage), and optionally your email address and a profile ID if you create an account. These identify your session and let us link your data across devices when you sign in. Account creation is optional — you can use the App without an email address.
Quiz answers and derived scores — your responses to the 17-question quiz (skills, work preferences, time commitment, goals, income targets, and motivational context) and the RIASEC/Big Five dimension scores calculated from those answers. These are the core input to hustle matching. They are stored on your device and, if you are signed in, synced to our servers.
Playbook progress — which daily tasks you have completed, your streak count, milestones reached, and the date you started a playbook. Used to track your progress and power in-app gamification features.
AI coach messages — the text of messages you send to the AI coach and responses generated on your behalf. When you use the AI coach, your messages and relevant playbook context (such as the hustle, day, week, and task descriptions) are transmitted to our server proxy and then to OpenAI for inference. The coach does not send your full quiz profile to OpenAI. They are stored on your device (last 200 messages per hustle) and in our server database for up to 12 months to support session continuity and rate-limiting. Coach messages are not used to train OpenAI models per OpenAI's API usage policy.
Playbook personalization data — when you open a playbook, your quiz-derived profile (skills, goals, and quiz answers) may be sent to our LLM-backed personalization endpoint, which calls OpenAI via our backend, to generate playbook content tailored to you. This data is sent only to produce your personalized playbook and is not used to train OpenAI models per OpenAI's API usage policy. AI features are opt-in: the App asks for your explicit consent before sending any data to OpenAI.
Purchase and subscription status — which plan you purchased, the date of purchase, and the price label displayed at the time of purchase. We receive entitlement status from Apple via RevenueCat. We never see or store your payment card number, bank account, or full billing address.
Notifications — if you grant notification permission, the App schedules local reminder notifications on your device (such as daily reminders, streak alerts, and playbook milestones). These are local notifications scheduled on your device; we do not send your notification token to our servers and we do not currently use server-triggered push. Notifications are optional and can be revoked in your device notification settings at any time.
Analytics events — anonymized events tied to your device ID describing how you use the App (e.g., quiz_started, paywall_viewed, day_completed). These are stored in our database and may also be sent to PostHog for product analytics. No personally identifiable information is included in analytics payloads beyond the device ID.
Crash and error data — device type, OS version, app version, and stack traces from crashes or errors, sent to Sentry. These do not include quiz answers, coach messages, or payment information.
Session metadata — the timestamp of your last app open, total session count, and daily reminder preferences. Used to power retention features such as dormancy nudges and streak protection.
We do not collect precise GPS location, contacts, microphone audio, camera video, health or fitness data, or financial credentials.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for third-party advertising or engage in cross-app behavioral tracking. We do not share your quiz answers with employers, recruiters, lenders, or any third party for hiring, credit, insurance, or profiling decisions.
We share data with the following third-party services only to the extent necessary for them to perform their function:
Each sub-processor operates under its own privacy policy and data processing agreements.
Our servers and sub-processors may store or process data in the United States or other countries. Where required by applicable law (such as EU/UK GDPR), we rely on standard contractual clauses or other lawful transfer mechanisms with our sub-processors.
You have the following rights regarding your personal data, regardless of where you live:
EU/UK residents (UK GDPR / GDPR): The lawful basis for processing is (a) performance of a contract for core quiz and playbook functionality, (b) legitimate interests for security, crash reporting, and anonymized analytics, and (c) consent for optional notifications, account creation, and AI features (the AI coach and playbook personalization that send data to OpenAI). You can withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. In the UK, this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
California residents (CCPA/CPRA): You have the rights above plus the right to know what categories of personal information we collect, the right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising purposes.

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. The App requires users to be at least 17 years old. We use industry-standard measures to protect your data: TLS encryption for all data in transit, hashed credentials via Supabase Auth, row-level security policies on user data in the database, and encrypted device storage (iOS Keychain / Android EncryptedSharedPreferences) for your device ID and auth tokens. No system is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security, and we encourage you to use a strong password and enable platform-level device protections.
We will notify you of material changes to this Privacy Policy via an in-app banner before the changes take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
